Im Rahmen der International Geomorphology Week lädt die International Association of Geomorphologists (IAG) in der ersten Märzwoche 2026 zu zwei Online-Vortragsveranstaltungen ein.
Am 3. März 2026 von 05:00 bis 07:00 Uhr (UTC) findet die erste Veranstaltung mit Schwerpunkt auf der Asien-Pazifik-Region statt. Edward Park (Singapur) spricht über die Auswirkungen des Sandabbaus im Mekong-Delta, Rayees Ahmed (Indien) über zunehmende Gefahren durch Gletscherseeausbrüche in Gebirgsregionen.
Die zweite Veranstaltung folgt am 6. März 2026 von 16:00 bis 18:00 Uhr (UTC) und richtet sich insbesondere an Teilnehmende aus Europa und Amerika. Ian Evans (UK) referiert zu Gebirgsvergletscherung und der Buzz-saw-Hypothese, Richard Marston (USA) beleuchtet anhand von Fallstudien die Rolle der Geomorphologie im natürlichen Ressourcenmanagement.
Die Veranstaltungen finden online via Zoom statt. Der Zugangslink wird nach erfolgreicher Registrierung versendet.

As part of International Geomorphology Week, the International Association of Geomorphologists (IAG) will host two online lecture events during the first week of March 2026.
The first event will take place on 3 March 2026 from 05:00 to 07:00 UTC, primarily addressing participants from the Asia-Pacific region. Edward Park (Singapore) will present on sand mining in the Mekong Delta and its compounded impacts, while Rayees Ahmed (India) will discuss increasing hazards and risks from glacial lake outburst floods in mountain regions.
The second event will be held on 6 March 2026 from 16:00 to 18:00 UTC, mainly targeting participants from Europe and the Americas. Ian Evans (UK) will speak on mountain glaciation and the buzz-saw hypothesis, and Richard Marston (USA) will reflect on the role of geomorphology in natural resource management through case studies from his career.
Both events will be conducted online via Zoom. The access link will be sent to registered participants.
