Following the 1st KAHR Science Conference in June last year, the Book of Abstracts with the collected scientific contributions has now been published. The KAHR project, KAHR for Climate, Adaptation, Flood and Resilience, was initiated by the BMBF after the 2021 flood disaster with the aim of supporting the reconstruction measures in the flood-affected regions in North Rhine-Westphalia and Rhineland-Palatinate with the latest scientific findings.
During the first KAHR Science Conference, a total of 340 scientists from different disciplines presented their research and projects in various sessions, dealing with issues related to the impact and management of flood disasters and climate-resilient reconstruction. The abstracts of the presentations have been compiled in the Book of Abstracts, which has now been published. At the beginning, the 10 recommendations from the perspective of science on the topic of reconstruction and the sustainability of flood-affected regions, which were developed on the initiative of the KAHR project, are presented. The conference proceedings also include a contribution on the BMBF funding measure WaX – extreme water events – in the main topic “Resilience strategies against floods”.
