Climate Crisis Meets Civil Protection
A cooperative event series of the Department of Civil Protection, Disaster Relief and Property Safety (BuK) of the University of Wuppertal and the German Committee for Disaster Reduction (DKKV).
Since this event-series will be conducted in German, most information is not provided in English.
Climate Crisis Meets Civil Protection
The more we are exposed to the consequences of climate change, the more relevant the various areas of civil protection become. Extreme weather events, for example, not only pose an immediate threat to the safety and health of the population, but also to critical infrastructures, and pose a particular challenge to relief organizations and authorities and organizations with security tasks.
For a resilient future, it is therefore fundamentally important to bring the two sets of issues of climate change and civil protection together, to educate about the interrelations, to exchange ideas, and to jointly close existing gaps and discuss viable solutions.
The interconnection of these two sets of issues, climate change and population protection, is fundamental to shaping a secure and resilient future. For this reason, DKKV and the Department of Civil Protection, Disaster Relief and Property Safety (BuK) of the University of Wuppertal are organizing a series of events on the topic “Climate Crisis meets Civil Protection” with important key topics over four months.
The flyer on the left hand side provides more information in German.
Each week, different speakers accompany the event with their expertise on individual topics.
The event will be held fortnightly, alternating between Wuppertal and Bonn, and will also be offered hybrid via Zoom.
The events will take place from 06.00 to 08.00 p.m. each.
