On Wednesday 26 April, the Bonn Network and the DKKV welcomed the delegation from the Western Balkans to the Old Town Hall of the City of Bonn. The members stayed in Bonn for a week as part of a study tour organised by the project ADAPT: Nature-based Solutions for Resilient Societies in the Western Balkans. The trip focused on the capacity building and training components.

The ADAPT project is a multi-year regional project funded by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida) and implemented by IUCN ECARO. The overall objective of the project is to strengthen the resilience of ecosystems and communities to climate change and environmental degradation in the Western Balkans.

The meeting started with a short welcome and introduction of the Bonn network by Melissa Schönholz. Stefan Wagner, Head of the Office of International Affairs and Global Sustainability also welcomed the delegation. Melanie Schwarz then gave a brief insight into the DKKV’s working methods and mission. In the process, the group was given a small insight into the research of the current WaX Water Extreme Events project.

In addition to the visit of the Bonn network and the DKKV, other institutions received the delegation. Among others, the Federal Agency for Agriculture and Food (BMEL) and the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR).
