Am 29. April 2026 veranstalten United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction und ATscale das Online-Webinar „Leveraging Assistive Technology for Inclusive Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Action“. Im Fokus steht die Frage, wie assistive Technologien dazu beitragen können, Katastrophenvorsorge und Klimaanpassung inklusiver zu gestalten. Ausgangspunkt ist ein gemeinsames Policy Brief von UNDRR und ATscale, das zeigt, wie Menschen mit Behinderungen und funktionalen Einschränkungen durch besseren Zugang zu Warnsystemen, Notfalldiensten und Wiederaufbaumaßnahmen stärker unterstützt werden können.
Diskutiert wird unter anderem, welche Rolle Hilfsmittel wie Mobilitäts- und Hörhilfen, Kommunikationslösungen oder digitale Anwendungen dabei spielen, Warnungen zugänglich zu machen, Selbstständigkeit in Krisensituationen zu stärken und eine gleichberechtigte Teilhabe an Vorsorge, Reaktion und Wiederaufbau zu ermöglichen. Vertreter:innen aus Politik, Katastrophenmanagement, Klimapraxis und Organisationen von Menschen mit Behinderungen teilen dazu ihre Perspektiven.
Die Online-Veranstaltung findet von 10:00 bis 11:00 Uhr (CET) statt. Die Teilnahme ist kostenlos, eine vorherige Registrierung ist erforderlich.

On April 29, 2026, the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) and ATscale will host the online webinar „Leveraging Assistive Technology for Inclusive Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Action.“ The webinar will focus on how assistive technologies can contribute to making disaster risk reduction and climate adaptation more inclusive. It will be based on a joint policy brief from UNDRR and ATscale, which demonstrates how people with disabilities and functional limitations can be better supported through improved access to warning systems, emergency services, and reconstruction efforts.
Discussions will include the role of assistive technologies such as mobility and hearing aids, communication solutions, and digital applications in making warnings accessible, strengthening independence in crisis situations, and enabling equitable participation in prevention, response, and reconstruction. Representatives from politics, disaster management, climate action, and disability organizations will share their perspectives.
The online event will take place from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. (CET). Participation is free, but prior registration is required.
