In the second talk of the DKKV Lunchtalk series, Prof. Dr.-Ing. James Daniell explores how disaster losses are assessed across government, industry, and academia. For almost twenty years, he has been modelling and analysing the socio-economic impacts of disasters worldwide – from near real-time assessments in the immediate aftermath of events to long-term risk models for international organisations and the insurance sector. In his lecture, Prof. Daniell will outline the history, methods, and differences between sectoral approaches to post-disaster loss assessment. He will also highlight lessons learned from global practice and point to areas where innovation and closer collaboration are needed to strengthen future disaster risk management.

Further information and all upcoming dates of the Lunchtalk series can be found on our website or (in german) in the flyer of the Lunchtalk series. More details on this talk are available in this flyer.
