Am 17. März 2026 findet ein hybrid Seminar auf Englisch zum Thema „From disaster early warning to early action“ statt, organisiert von der Wageningen University & Research Center.
Im Mittelpunkt steht die Frage, wie Frühwarnungen effektiver in konkrete Vorsorgemaßnahmen umgesetzt werden können. Obwohl Vorhersagen zu Wetter- und Klimarisiken zunehmend präziser werden, bleibt es eine zentrale Herausforderung, Warnungen rechtzeitig und verständlich an die betroffenen Bevölkerungsgruppen zu kommunizieren und daraus wirksame Maßnahmen abzuleiten.
Das Seminar bringt Forschung, Politik und Praxis zusammen und diskutiert, welche Voraussetzungen notwendig sind, um den Übergang von Frühwarnung zu frühzeitigem Handeln zu stärken. Neben Keynote-Vorträgen von Expertinnen und Experten aus Wissenschaft und Praxis wird eine Paneldiskussion konkrete Lösungsansätze und zukünftige Entwicklungen beleuchten.

On 17 March 2026, a hybrid seminar in English titled “From Disaster Early Warning to Early Action” will take place, organized by Wageningen University & Research Center.
The seminar focuses on how early warnings can be translated more effectively into concrete preparedness and response measures. Although forecasts of weather and climate-related hazards are becoming increasingly accurate, a key challenge remains: ensuring that warnings are communicated in a timely and understandable way to affected populations and that they lead to effective action.
The event will bring together experts from research, policy, and practice to discuss the conditions needed to strengthen the transition from early warning to early action. In addition to keynote presentations by experts from academia and practice, a panel discussion will explore practical solutions and future developments.
