Vom 3. bis zum 4. November findet die 9. Ausgabe des European Civil Protection Forum in Brüssel statt, ausgerichtet von der Generaldirektion für europäische Katastrophenschutz- und humanitäre Hilfe (ECHO). Die Veranstaltung ist als zentrales Treffen der europäischen Katastrophenschutzgemeinschaft konzipiert und bringt Akteur:innen aus Politik, Praxis, Wissenschaft und Zivilgesellschaft zusammen, um aktuelle Herausforderungen und zukünftige Entwicklungen im Katastrophenmanagement zu diskutieren.
Inhaltlich knüpft das Forum an die vorherigen Ausgaben an. Dieses zeigten deutlich, dass Europa mit einer zunehmend komplexen und sich wandelnden Risikolandschaft konfrontiert ist, die von Klimawandel, Naturkatastrophen, Pandemien bis hin zu geopolitischen Krisen reicht. Vor diesem Hintergrund dient das Forum als Plattform für Wissensaustausch, Vernetzung und gemeinsame Reflexion, um Lehren aus vergangenen Ereignissen zu ziehen und Ansätze für eine effektivere Prävention, Vorsorge und Reaktion zu entwickeln.

The 9th European Civil Protection Forum will take place in Brussels from 3rd to 4th November, organised by the Directorate-General for European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid (ECHO). The event is designed as a key gathering for the European civil protection community and brings together stakeholders from politics, the field, academia and civil society to discuss current challenges and future developments in disaster management.
In terms of content, the forum builds on previous editions. These clearly demonstrated that Europe is facing an increasingly complex and changing risk landscape, ranging from climate change, natural disasters and pandemics to geopolitical crises. Against this backdrop, the Forum serves as a platform for knowledge exchange, networking and joint reflection, with the aim of learning from past events and developing approaches for more effective prevention, preparedness and response.
