The CNRS offers a Doctoral position (M/F) concerning the topic: “Adapting to compound climate events and their cascading impacts in coastal settings: conceptual and methodological approach, and application to small islands” at La Rochelle (France).

The PhD thesis will contribute to address these research gaps by investigating four interconnected areas:

  1. Weather / climate triggers
  2. The physical, ecological and societal processes
  3. The cascades of impacts generated by these events
  4. The contribution of risk reduction and climate adaption policies and measures

The candidate must have a background in environmental sciences, preferably coastal, and a strong interest for interdisciplinary analyses. A Master’s Degree in geography or environmental sciences, especially coastal, with robust knowledge on coastal risks and risk reduc4on and adaptation policies and measures, systemic (i.e. system-based) analyses as developed in social sciences, climate change impacts and climate adaptation, tropical small islands is assumed.

Applications can be handed in via the CNRS recruitment portal.
