Annweiler am Trifels, Germany – TU Darmstadt is organizing the highly anticipated Trifels Summer School 2023 from September 25th to 29th. This year’s focus is on Critical Infrastructures. Researchers from diverse disciplines will gather at the Kurhaus in Annweiler am Trifels for a week of collaborative discussions.

The growing awareness of protecting critical infrastructures due to security policies and societal considerations has made this topic increasingly important. The Summer School will delve into the interdependence of traditional infrastructures like transportation, water, and energy, as well as the impact of ICT infrastructures and the transition to sustainable energy systems.

The program will include sessions led by renowned experts, addressing criticality, vulnerability, resilience, interdependence of systems, transformation processes, and infrastructure dynamics. Participants will also work in interdisciplinary groups to develop short presentations.

Alongside the academic activities, attendees will enjoy a social program featuring a simulation game on long-term power blackout, a tour of Trifels Castle, and a barbecue evening. The event will also include the “Trifelser Gespräch,” facilitating an exchange between academia and practitioners on the digitalization of infrastructures.

The Trifels Summer School 2023 welcomes applications from MA students, PhD students, and early PostDocs with interdisciplinary research interests. The application deadline is June 7th, and selected participants will receive free accommodation and catering during the event.
