The ‘Stadt-Land-Plus’ funding initiative of the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR) shows how cities and rural regions can become future-proof through cooperation. Between 2018 and 2025, 22 joint projects developed solutions for settlement development, regional food supply, circular economy and social justice. The key finding: dialogue and cooperation on an equal footing are the key to livable regions. The resulting ‘Stadt-Land Reform Agenda’ brings together recommendations on issues such as securing regional food production, protecting agricultural land and creating equal living conditions. A sustainability toolbox has also been developed to support local authorities in implementing the UN Sustainable Development Goals at regional level.
Further information on the programme and the joint projects can be found on the website of Stadt-Land-Plus.
