As part of the research project “Rising sea and sinking land” at the University of Cologne, funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG), an international survey on risk and adaptation in delta regions is being conducted. We are looking for people who have experience or contact with delta systems, risk dynamics, or decision-making and adaptation processes. A particular focus is on the Ayeyarwady Delta with the megacity of Yangon in Myanmar, which serves as a case study. However, the survey has a global focus.

Why is your participation valuable for the research?

Your assessments will help to better understand key risk drivers, institutional challenges, and realistic development options for the future of delta regions worldwide—including the Ayeyarwady Delta. The results will be incorporated into scientific publications and practice-oriented recommendations for policy and planning.
