The GNDR Global Summit 2026 took place online from 24–27th of March 2026, bringing together civil society organisations, practitioners, and partners from across the world for four days of exchange, collaboration, and strategic dialogue. The opening day set an inspiring tone as participants gathered for the inaugural session, “Localising Resilience through Collaboration”, where GNDR officially launched its new Strategy. This Strategy, which will be published soon, places strong emphasis on locally led action – strengthening the voices of communities most at risk. Throughout the afternoon, three additional sessions allowed members to begin diving into shared priorities and future directions.
On 25th of March, members met in regional groups to explore how the new Strategy can best be implemented in diverse contexts, followed by three member‑led sessions highlighting practical experiences from around the globe. The next day continued this momentum, featuring several additional peer‑learning sessions. Among them was the session “Risk‑Informed Urban Development: Planning Cities for Multiple Risk Drivers”, which examined the impacts of forced displacement, rapid urbanisation and eviction risks on community resilience. During this session, Ronja Winkhardt‑Enz from DKKV presented global best practices for risk communication, showcasing creative approaches that help communities understand risks and strengthen their ability to organise and advocate in complex urban settings.
The final day on 27th of March offered a rich set of discussions on themes such as localising disaster risk governance, the role of technology in turning data into actionable decisions, and the power of collaboration through shared perspectives. The Summit concluded with an engaging closing keynote that reinforced GNDR’s commitment to community‑centred resilience and civil society leadership. As GNDR’s focal point for Germany, DKKV is proud to support these efforts and to help connect local organisations to the global network. GNDR continues to welcome new members who wish to join a thriving community dedicated to reducing risk and strengthening resilience worldwide. You can find information about a membership here.
