Forests play a central role in times of global uncertainty – as sources of energy, habitats, and protective factors for people and the climate. How Europe’s forest sector can prepare for geopolitical crises will be the focus of the upcoming online dialogue “Forest-based geopolitical emergency preparedness” hosted by FOREST EUROPE on 13 November 2025, from 9:00 to 11:30 CET. The aim of this dialogue is to bring together knowledge and build a shared understanding of the importance of forests and sustainable forest management in times of crisis. Experts and high-level policymakers – including representatives from Ukraine, Finland, Sweden, and the United Kingdom – will share best practices and discuss ways to strengthen the resilience of Europe’s forest sector.

In addition, FOREST EUROPE announces the launch of the new report State of Europe’s Forests 2025 (SoEF2025). The report provides the most comprehensive overview of the condition, trends, and contributions of Europe’s forests to sustainable development. Prepared by the European Forest Institute (EFI) in cooperation with UNECE and FAO, it serves as an important foundation for forest policy decisions and research. The SoEF 2025 will be published on 9 December 2025 and officially presented during a launch event in Brussels for FOREST EUROPE Signatories and Observers. An additional webinar will take place on 16 December 2025 (12:00–13:00 CET) to highlight the main findings and insights of the report.

You can register here for the online dialogue on 13 November (9:00–11:30 CET).
More information about the webinar on 16 December (12:00–13:00 CET) will be available soon on the website.
