The latest edition of Disaster Risk Management Knowledge Centre (DRMKC) Flash News provides information on key challenges in disaster risk management in Europe, including prolonged droughts, increasing desertification and the growing threat of forest fires. To strengthen resilience, new tools and reports have been developed, such as the Disaster Losses and Damages Dashboard in the Risk Data Hub, a comprehensive analysis report on risks in Europe, the GHS-OBAT dataset, and new forest fire monitoring systems. Artificial intelligence is also playing an increasingly important role in early warning systems and risk assessments.
Finally, the DRMKC invites you to the Science for Preparedness Conference from 4 to 6 November in Turin, a joint event organised by the DRMKC and the Copernicus Emergency Management Service (CEMS) as part of the new European Preparedness Union Strategy.
