Snow and icy conditions are expected in the southern half of Germany tomorrow, January 17. The German Weather Service (DWD) has issued an official severe weather warning for ice and slippery conditions. Particularly in southern Germany, prolonged rainfall with negative temperatures is expected, which could cause considerable slipperiness on the roads. In the Eifel, large parts of Hesse and Thuringia, there may be heavy snowfall, with an expected snowfall of 15-30 cm within 12-24 hours.

The warnings apply in most areas from Wednesday morning and could last until Thursday morning in some cases, thus having “large-scale effects on road and rail traffic”.

Stay up to date with the latest information on the DWD website or with the DWD warning app. There you will also find a map with current risk areas and warning levels.
