The third issue of the DKKV magazine has been published – the September 2025 issue is dedicated to the extreme weather event of hail.

Hail is one of the most damaging weather events in Germany and poses major challenges for research, prevention and civil protection. The magazine highlights causes, prediction possibilities and damage potential, as well as approaches to risk reduction.

Prof. Dr. Michael Kunz (KIT) provides insights into the current state of hail research and reports on his experiences during the first ICECHIP research campaign in Texas. Dr. Tim Böhme (DWD) explains current developments in hail forecasting. The issue is supplemented by news from the DKKV, contributions from young professionals and literature recommendations.
