The Department of Geography at the University of Bonn (GIUB) and the United Nations University Institute for Environment and Human Security are now accepting applications for the international joint master’s programme ‘Geography of Environmental Risks and Human Security’. The two-year programme provides in-depth theoretical and methodological skills in environmental hazards, vulnerability, resilience, and risk and crisis management – complemented by a mandatory internship of at least eight weeks and a strong focus on the Global South. Graduates of geography and related subjects are eligible to apply.

Applicants also have the opportunity to apply for a DAAD EPOS scholarship, which provides full funding for their studies. The programme starts in October 2026; the application deadline is 15 December 2025.
