The Technical Relief Agency (THW) has expanded its fleet with five new trucks equipped with cranes and winches. The vehicles have been specifically designed for use in flooded areas and aim to enhance the THW’s rescue operations. The first vehicles were handed over to five local branches over the weekend, with an additional 35 vehicles scheduled for delivery later this year. The trucks will be used by the Water Hazards Specialist Group to launch boats, navigate flooded areas, and recover goods. The procurement of these vehicles took into account the experiences gained from previous flood operations. The THW has received a total of 1.25 million euros in donation funds for equipping the vehicles with winches.

The THW is a volunteer-based federal emergency response organization that rescues people and animals in water-related emergencies. It also provides support during floods and contributes to dam and dike security.
