How can we ensure that everyone receives, understands, and can act on risk information before, during, and after disasters? As climate-related hazards such as floods, storms, and heatwaves become more frequent across Europe, vulnerable groups—including older adults, people with disabilities, and people with migration backgrounds—often face additional barriers to preparedness, participation, and access to information. The Erasmus+ project RESILIENT VOICES explored how the perspectives of these groups can be better integrated into disaster preparedness and risk communication.
In an interactive one-hour WebTalk on September 15, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM CEST, project partners Ronja Winkhardt-Enz (DKKV e. V.) and Elodie Gouhir (Auxilia / Groupe SOS) will present key findings from surveys, focus groups, and insights from pilot communities in Germany and France. Participants will learn about best practices of inclusive risk communication and preparedness, promising approaches for local community engagement, and actionable recommendations for strengthening disaster resilience for all. The free online event will be conducted in English via Zoom and is aimed at practitioners, local authorities, civil protection actors, social service providers, researchers, NGOs, and anyone interested in inclusive resilience building.
