From March 24 to 27, 2026, the Global Summit for Disaster Risk Reduction, organised by the Global Network of Civil Society Organizations for Disaster Reduction (GNDR), will take place online. This event will bring together civil society organisations from around the world to share experiences of local disaster risk reduction, discuss common priorities and strengthen the role of locally led approaches in global risk reduction.

In light of the accelerating impacts of climate change and the increasing risk of disasters, the focus will be on communities that are already dealing with these risks on the front line. The summit provides a platform for raising the profile of local knowledge, connecting organisations internationally and developing joint initiatives to shape the future of disaster risk reduction.

The German Committee for Disaster Prevention (DKKV) is also part of the network: The DKKV serves as GNDR’s National Focal Point in Germany and supports exchange between German disaster prevention actors and international civil society.

The programme for the four-day online summit includes numerous sessions and discussion formats organised by member organisations. These focus on locally driven resilience, cooperation between regions, and integrating practical experience into global decision-making processes.
