The open-access publication Navigating Urban Development – Learnings from East and Southeast Asia explores pathways for sustainable urban transformation in the face of rapid urbanisation and the escalating climate crisis. Edited by Vivienne Mayer, Anika Slawski and Frank Schwartze, the volume brings together insights from ten research projects conducted in Cambodia, China, Indonesia, Laos, Myanmar, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam.

The book was developed within the framework of the SURE Facilitation & Synthesis research project, funded by the German Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR) under the funding priority “Sustainable Development of Urban Regions (SURE)”. It combines conceptual reflections, case studies and practical tools to support resilient and inclusive urban futures.

Of particular relevance is the contribution of the MYrisk project, in which DKKV is involved. The MYrisk chapter can be found in Part 2 (“The Frame / Impact on the Ground”), pages 44–49, highlighting practical approaches to strengthening urban resilience in Myanmar.

The publication is available as a Open Access PDF. Further information and download options are available here.
