The second session of the joint Lunchtalk series by DKKV and its institutional member CEDIM will take place on 6 October 2025 at 12:30 PM. This time, the focus will be on rapid and reliable post-disaster loss assessments — and how approaches from academia, industry and government can be better aligned.
Prof. Dr.-Ing. James Daniell (CEDIM, KIT) has been researching the socio-economic impacts of disasters worldwide for around 20 years. His work bridges science, industry and policy – from CEDIM’s Forensic Disaster Analyses to collaborations with the World Bank, Risklayer and the insurance sector. In this lecture, he will discuss the history, methods and differences between government, industry and academic approaches, as well as areas for future improvement.
Together with the participants, he will explore how cross-sectoral analyses can help improve the quality, comparability and usability of disaster data — and what steps are needed to further develop post-disaster assessments in the future.
More detailed information can be found in the event flyer, and you can register for the online session here.
Further information on all upcoming sessions can be found on our website or in the flyer of the series.
By the way: The Lunchtalk series will start on 22 September with exciting insights into CEDIM’s Forensic Disaster Analyses (FDA). You can find more information about this first session and the registration link here.
We look forward to your participation!
