Tomorrow, Thursday, 11 September 2025, is this year’s National Warning Day. At 11:00 a.m., a test warning will be sent via the federal government’s Modular Warning System (MoWaS) to warning multipliers such as radio stations and app servers, which will relay it with a time delay via various channels such as apps, television, radio or sirens.

The aim of this day of action by the federal, state and local governments is to test the technical systems and raise public awareness of the issue of warnings. The all-clear will be given at 11:45 a.m. – although not yet via cell broadcast.

The warning day offers an opportunity to familiarise yourself with the various warning channels. After the last test warning, the BBK conducted a survey on the effectiveness of the systems, the results of which can be found in the BBK’s magazine “Bevölkerungsschutz: Warnung der Bevölkerung” (02/25). Such a survey is expected again this year.

Further information on the warning day can be found on the website of the Federal Office for Civil Protection and Disaster Assistance (BBK).
