In the Behörden Spiegel newsletter issue of 25 July 2024, a summary of the operational and security measures taken at the 2024 European Men’s Football Championship in Germany was published. The working group of the heads of the professional fire services and the German Fire Service Association successfully concluded the 2024 European Football Championships, with only minor operational situations having to be dealt with. The ten professional fire services in the host cities developed an integrated safety and emergency response concept. Volunteer and full-time emergency services as well as federal units were involved. The Berlin branch of the German Red Cross reported over 14,700 hours of service and 1,440 medical treatments during the event. A total of almost 1,000 people were treated in the fan zone at the Brandenburg Gate and in the Olympic Stadium Berlin. The concept was rated as successful and well structured.
