As climate change, disaster risks and housing insecurity continue to intensify, resilient housing is becoming increasingly important for building safer and more resilient cities. This Geneva roundtable brings together mayors, urban planners, policymakers, financial institutions and resilience experts to discuss how housing affordability, availability and changing risk landscapes influence vulnerability.

The discussion will focus on how resilience can be integrated into housing systems, urban planning and investment decisions. Particular attention will be given to land-use planning, infrastructure, governance, financing and community capacities, including the challenges faced by both formal and informal settlements.

The event is co-organized by UNDRR, UN-Habitat, UNDP, UNECE and Global Cities Hub and takes place as part of the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction 2026.
