51st Hybrid (Online and Face to Face) Training Course on Disaster Risk Management for Sustainable Development

This course is the successor of the 50th Disaster Management Course held by the Asian Disaster Preparedness Center (ADPC) on the 13.11.-24.11.2023. The course offers skills and knowledge on disaster risk management and adopts a multi-hazard, multi-level, multi-agency and multi-disciplinary approaches for DRR and risk-informed sustainable development. The course incorporates new relevant concepts and topics such as risk-informed development planning, transparency and accountability, monitoring and evaluation through case study discussion and field visits.

The course is aimed at IFRC/ ICRC; international and local NGOs; NGOs involved in disaster risk reduction response and recovery; staff from training institutes and other agencies responsible for knowledge dissemination and training of trainers on disaster risk reduction and management; persons involved in coordination of disaster management activities e.g., defense forces and emergency services; and UN agencies. Government officials and decision-makers are also encouraged to participate so they can better support DRM efforts.

The course consists of seven modules and its result will be a tailored DRM action plan for sustainable development that participants will work on when they return to their organization.

It will take place as a hybrid event; the first three modules will be held as online classes, while the rest will be face to face modules in Bangok, Thailand.
