On April 29, 2025, the online workshop „Klimawandel und Menschen mit Behinderung: Herausforderungen, Lösungen und ways forward“ (Climate Change and People with Disabilities: Challenges, Solutions, and Ways Forward) will take place. People with disabilities are not only at risk from the direct effects of climate change, but also from their limited access to essential resources, emergency assistance, and adaptation measures. Due to non-inclusive emergency plans, they face a significantly higher risk during disasters. The workshop highlights that climate change exacerbates existing social inequalities, further disadvantaging those who are already marginalized.
The workshop is organized by bezev (Behinderung und Entwicklungszusammenarbeit e.V. Disability and Development Cooperation) and is aimed at university lecturers, researchers, NGOs, political stakeholders, and organizations representing people with disabilities. The goal is to exchange ideas and discuss how inclusive measures can be implemented to overcome existing inequalities and mitigate the impacts of climate change on people with disabilities.
Here you can find more information and register by April 22, 2025. This event is held in German language.
