The German Committee for Disaster Reduction (DKKV) invites you to a digital lunchtalk on 4 September 2024 from 13:00 to 14:00, which will focus on the flood events in southern Germany in June 2024. The event will provide a detailed analysis of the exceptional rainfall that led to widespread flooding, particularly in Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg, and triggered a state of disaster in 18 Bavarian districts.
Scientists from the Forensic Disaster Analysis (FDA) Group of the Center for Disaster Management and Risk Reduction Technology (CEDIM), Andreas Schäfer and Uwe Ehret, will present the record rainfall, hydro-meteorological findings and the consequences of the flooding. They will also discuss the necessary risk minimisation measures.
The event will be moderated by Ronja Winkhardt-Enz, research associate at DKKV. The event will take place as part of the ‘Flutverteiler’ exchange platform, which has been used since 2021 for the exchange of knowledge on floods and flood events in Germany.
Further information and the Zoom registration link can be found in the event flyer.
