The 8th session of the Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction (GP2025) starts today, June 2, 2025, at the Geneva International Conference Center and will run until June 6. It is being organized by the UNDRR and the Swiss government. The aim is to assess progress in the implementation of the Sendai Framework and develop concrete risk reduction measures. The event promotes inclusive, global cooperation and builds on the 2023 Political Declaration as well as current risks and contributions from all relevant stakeholders.

It will address how current and future risks in a rapidly changing world – characterized by climate change, pandemics and extreme weather – can be managed through comprehensive risk management. The focus is also on gender equality, inclusion and sustainable development in order to protect particularly vulnerable groups and effectively support the Sustainable Development Goals.

Further information is available on the GP and UNDRR website and the GP2025 themes can be found here.
