After the retirement of Gerd Friedsam as President of the Federal Agency for Technical Relief (THW) on 30 June, Sabine Lackner was appointed President by Interior Minister Nancy Faeser on 1 July. With 22 years of experience with THW, she thus takes over the federal agency with 85,000 volunteers, about 2,000 full-time staff and around 700 federal volunteers.

For her, it is especially the connection between the voluntary and full-time forces that makes THW special. Together with them, she would like to further strengthen THW and civil protection in Germany.

Sabine Lackner is introduced on the THW website.
