On Friday, 20th September 2024, MPs in the Rhineland-Palatinate state parliament will discuss the final report of Investigation Committee 18/1 ‘on the flood disaster in Rhineland-Palatinate, its consequences and the legal and political responsibility of the state government, its subordinate authorities and all other public bodies for this’ from 9:30 am to around 2:20 pm. Martin Haller, Chairman of the committee, will present the report, followed by assessments and statements from the parliamentary groups. The meeting will be broadcast live on the state parliament’s video platform and YouTube channel.

In a separate video, Haller explains the tasks and implementation of the committee and emphasises the challenges and the importance of transparency and cooperation between the committee, institutions and media. He emphasises that parliamentary democracy is able to comprehensively clarify such events, which is in the interests of those affected and the victims.
