At its 72nd plenary session today, the Rhineland-Palatinate state parliament discussed the final report of the Committee of Inquiry 18/1 ‘on the flood disaster in Rhineland-Palatinate, its consequences and the legal and political responsibility of the state government, its subordinate authorities and all other public bodies for this’. Committee Chairman Martin Haller presented the report, followed by statements from the parliamentary groups. The meeting was broadcast live and is available as a video on the state parliament’s YouTube channel.
In a separate video, Haller explains the tasks and implementation of the committee and emphasises the challenges and the importance of transparency and cooperation between the committee, institutions and media. He emphasises that parliamentary democracy is able to comprehensively clarify such events, which is in the interests of those affected and the victims.
