A representative survey conducted by the Federal Office of Civil Protection and Disaster Assistance (BBK) on the occasion of the Nationwide Warning Day in Germany on September 12, 2024, shows that two-thirds of citizens trust the national warning system. Around 97% of respondents were reached on the warning day, marking a slight increase compared to the previous year. Cell Broadcast was once again the most wide-reaching warning channel, reaching 73% of people, followed by warning apps and sirens, each at 59%. Notably, the reach of sirens increased by six percentage points. A total of 79% received warnings through multiple channels – an increase of seven percentage points. Additionally, 98% of those surveyed consider regular testing of all warning systems important. BBK President Ralph Tiesler emphasized the key role of effective warning systems in times of crisis. The next Nationwide Warning Day in Germany is scheduled for September 11, 2025.
