At the nationwide Warning Day 2024, which took place on 12 September, 95 percent of the 112,822 respondents were successfully reached by the warning systems. Cell broadcast, which was used by 76 per cent of participants, once again proved to be the most effective warning tool. Over half of respondents received warnings via warning apps (56%) and siren signals (59%), while 10% received personal messages. The NINA warning app was the most frequently used app at 72%.

Federal Minister of the Interior Nancy Faeser praised the effectiveness of the warning systems and emphasised their importance for protecting the population in emergencies. Ralph Tiesler, President of the Federal Office of Civil Protection and Disaster Assistance (BBK), emphasised that the feedback from the survey provides valuable information for the further development of the warning systems.

The survey will run until 19 September 2024 and is available here.
