The current issue “Hochwasser- Inundaciones – Floods” of the anthology “Integrative Risk and Security Research” takes a comprehensive look at the flood events of October 2024 in Valencia, but also contains articles on other regions at risk of flooding, such as Italy, Mallorca and the Netherlands. In addition to a joint report on the inspection of the affected areas in Valencia, the publication contains a variety of articles dealing with challenges in disaster management, post-flood waste management and the legal framework in Spain.

Particular attention is paid to transnational cooperation, for example in the form of a joint press release by German and Spanish experts. A guide for those affected, emergency services and local authorities offers practical help based on international experience.

The aim of the anthology is to document findings, promote public exchange and provide impetus for better crisis management in the future. The contributions are characterized by an open dialogue about successes, failures and new approaches in dealing with flood disasters.

Among others, DKKV member Alexander Fekete and DKKV board member Wolfram Geier were involved in this edition.
