This commemorative publication honors the multifaceted life’s work of Bernd Rieken, who habilitated in European ethnology at the University of Vienna and headed the first doctoral program in psychotherapy science at the Sigmund Freud Private University of Vienna from 2007 to 2023. Rieken has made significant contributions to analytical individual psychology and the connection between psyche and culture, particularly in the field of folkloristic narrative and catastrophe research. He was primarily involved in ethnological disaster research in the field of storm surge and avalanche disasters.

The new commemorative publication, published in 2024, includes 42 multidisciplinary contributions from companions that reflect his broad thematic spectrum.
