Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and private individuals are often poorly protected against cyber attacks, unlike large companies and government organisations. The Cyber-Hilfswerk Deutschland (CHW-DE) was founded to counteract this. Under the leadership of Albrecht Broemme, former THW President, the CHW-DE aims to provide technical assistance in cyber emergencies as a ‘digital fire brigade’.

The CHW-DE focusses on three main areas: On-site emergency assistance, cyber incident response and the ‘Cyber Kids’ initiative, which aims to teach children and young people how to use the digital world safely. The aim is to strengthen the cyber resilience of SMEs and to train future specialists. The association relies on cooperation and is financed by membership fees.
