Yesterday, the UNDRR (United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction) presented the GAR Special Report 2024 online, which focuses on forensic insights from past disasters to improve future resilience.
The report analyses recent catastrophic events such as Cyclone Freddy and Hurricane Beryl, which show an increase in intensity and frequency due to climate change. It uses forensic disaster analysis to identify the factors that contributed to these disasters and offers evidence-based recommendations for risk reduction.
The event was facilitated by a team of experts and aimed to promote discussions on how to learn from these events in order to be better prepared for future hazards.
The recording of the event can be found on this website and here you can access the GAR Special Report 2024.
