The INCREASE research project examined the challenges of disaster risk management in a changing climate, focusing on an integrated analysis and assessment approach for hazards, risks, vulnerabilities, and resilience, as well as an integrated management approach for emergencies and disasters.
The newly published Policy Brief builds on the project’s key findings and presents approaches to effectively address these challenges. The publication focuses on concrete policy recommendations derived from the research, aimed at supporting a resilient and sustainable risk management strategy. Particular emphasis is placed on breaking down knowledge silos, fostering transdisciplinary collaboration between policymakers, researchers, and practitioners, and the necessity of long-term, adaptive measures to flexibly respond to evolving environmental and societal conditions.
The experience gained from the INCREASE project highlights that effective disaster risk management requires integration across multiple dimensions.
