Flooding is an increasing challenge for German municipalities. In order to promote innovative and exemplary flood prevention measures, the Akademie Hochwasserschutz and the German Committee for Disaster Risk Reduction e.V. (DKKV) are awarding the Hochwasser-Vorsorge-Preis 2025.

The prize is aimed at municipalities, fire departments, crisis teams and other flood prevention stakeholders who contribute to flood resilience with pioneering projects. The prize is awarded to municipal projects that involve various stakeholders – from comprehensive flood protection concepts and alarm and response plans to measures for networking, water maintenance or flood exercises with local forces.

The prize is endowed with 1,500 euros. The deadline for applications is June 27, 2025.

Interested municipalities are invited to submit their projects and show how they are preparing for future flood events.
