DKKV member Manuel Atug, founder of the Critical Infrastructures Working Group (AG KRITIS), criticised Germany’s inadequate security measures against potential attacks on critical infrastructures in an article on NDR Info. Despite planned improvements, existing measures remain inadequate. Atug emphasised the need to strengthen both physical and digital security strategies to ensure the resilience of infrastructures such as airports and waterworks. He emphasised that transparent communication about security incidents is important, but that speculation should be avoided. The current draft of the KRITIS umbrella law, which is due to be passed in October 2024, aims to make improvements but is not considered sufficient. Atug is calling for effective structural security measures and effective emergency management concepts to safeguard public services and democracy.
