The Global Innovation Hub, launched in November 2021, aims to foster transformative innovation for a low-emission and climate-resilient future. The Hub expands the global innovation space by promoting solutions that support the climate-related Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and that fulfil people’s basic needs for food, shelter, mobility and access through alternative value chains in line with these SDGs. The Innovation Hub complements the current innovation approach to climate solutions – an approach that tends to be incremental, sectoral and problem-focussed – with a transformative, needs-driven and solution-oriented approach.
The UN Just Transition refers to the transition to a more sustainable, low-carbon economy that simultaneously ensures social justice and the protection of the rights and livelihoods of affected workers and communities. This transition aims to ensure that the switch to green and sustainable economic models does not lead to social inequality, but instead creates jobs and supports disadvantaged groups.
