The 28th Climate Change Conference is just around the corner, this year from November 30 to December 12 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. At this year’s negotiations, the focus will be on climate finance. Financial support for the transformation to “Net Zero” will play a particularly important role, as will the provision of climate finance for countries particularly affected by the climate crisis, mainly in the Global South. Negotiations for adaptation projects, which have been neglected in recent years in comparison to mitigation projects, are also on the agenda, as is the so-called “Stocktake”, which this year for the first time will assess where the world stands in terms of climate protection.
DKKV board member Prof. Dr. Reimund Schwarze will be on site to monitor events again this year. On the UFZ climate blog on SciLogs you will find various contributions from climate research, including reports from the previous COP negotiations. Reimund Schwarze will also be publishing his COP campaign there this year with regular reports from Dubai from December 8th.
