On 21 September 2024, citizens in Wiesbaden had the opportunity to get to know the Federal Agency for Technical Relief (THW) and learn more about its role in civil protection. Under the motto ‘Join in. Participate’, the second Civil Protection Day of the federal and state governments took place. Visitors were able to explore the different facets of civil protection, including the work of the THW, at various stands and hands-on activities. THW President Sabine Lackner praised the volunteers for their important contribution during crises such as the recent floods.

At the THW stand, interested visitors were able to find out more about the Technical Detection Unit and use a metal detector to track down objects hidden in the straw. Lackner encouraged those present to volunteer and put their skills at the service of society. A political delegation, including Federal Minister of the Interior Nancy Faeser, also visited the event and learnt about the various stations.
