In the last issue of its newsletter, the Society for Crisis Preparedness (GfKV) addressed the question of how food supplies can be guaranteed after a blackout. In this context, everyday contexts are highlighted that play an important role in the event of a supraregional and prolonged power outage (“blackout”). In today’s society, life and everyday processes usually function smoothly, which is why we are often unaware of these essential interrelationships. For this reason, the newsletter addresses topics such as, poor preparedness for food crises, harnessing resources, and emergency production and supply to reiterate the importance of preparedness.
