Yesterday, the Slovenian government sent a request for assistance to the Emergency Response Coordination Centre of the European Union (ERCC). In response to this and within the framework of the Union Civil Protection Mechanism (UCPM), the German Federal Agency for Technical Relief (THW) is sending task forces to Slovenia.
An “advance team” first explores the structures, identifies concrete needs and establishes contact with local authorities. A team specialised in salvage work and experts from the specialist group on clearing follow. Specialist bridge-building teams may also be dispatched after further assessment.
