On 14 June, the Federal Office of Civil Protection and Disaster Assistance (BBK) published the positive evaluation of the nationwide warning day of December 2022. According to this evaluation, more than 90% of the population was reached by at least one warning means, which primarily included cell broadcast, warning apps (e.g. NINA), and sirens. Cell Broadcast was also tested for the first time and has been in operation since 23 February 2023 after successful use. It was found that an information gap arose from the mobile phone settings for the warning app NINA – a location must be activated for effective warning.
A nationwide warning day is also planned for 2023. Click here to go to the event page. Basic information on warning tools and the warning day can be found here.
