Effective communication is a key component of disaster risk reduction and plays an important role in building safer and more resilient societies. The event “From Knowledge to Action: Communication for a Safer World“ focuses on how knowledge and information can be effectively communicated to strengthen awareness, preparedness and action in the face of disaster risks.

The event brings together different perspectives on the role of communication in disaster risk reduction and explores how scientific knowledge can be translated into accessible and actionable information. Clear, timely and targeted communication can help people better understand risks and make informed decisions before, during and after disasters.

Particular attention is given to the connection between knowledge, communication and action. By bringing together expertise and practical experience, the event provides an opportunity to discuss approaches for communicating complex risks in ways that reach different audiences and support resilience at the individual and community level.
