The European Commission has published the latest INFORM Risk Index, which assesses the risk of crises and disasters worldwide. The index combines data on hazard, vulnerability and lack of response capacity, thereby providing a comparable basis for assessing risks at country and regional level.
The aim of the INFORM Index is to support decision-makers in politics, humanitarian aid and disaster risk reduction in better understanding risks, setting priorities and planning measures in a more targeted manner. The results show that countries with existing conflicts, high levels of poverty and weak state structures are particularly hard hit by crises.
The index is updated regularly and serves as an important tool for evidence-based decision-making in international risk management and disaster risk reduction.
